Multicultural Game Day

Multicultural Game Day is one of Ujima Community Services LV's flagship initiatives designed to unite families and communities through interactive, culturally rooted experiences. Held at public libraries, schools, and community centers across the Las Vegas Valley, this event features a dynamic mix of strategy-based board games, movement games, and educational play rooted in African, Indigenous, and world cultures.

More than a day of fun, Multicultural Game Day fosters cross-generational bonding, social-emotional growth, and cultural literacy. It is intentionally crafted to build confidence, communication, and community connection—one game at a time.

Annual Ujima Family Game Day

The Annual Umoja Family Game Day is a signature community celebration hosted by Ujima Community Services LV on the first day of Kwanzaa (December 26th) at the West Las Vegas Library in Las Vegas, NV. Rooted in the Kwanzaa principle of Umoja (Unity), this event is a vibrant, intergenerational gathering that brings families together through culturally relevant games, communal bonding, and shared traditions. Here’s what makes the event special:

🎲 Interactive Cultural Games – Ujima curates board games and activities that emphasize cooperation, African heritage, and family engagement.

🖤 Community Unity Focus – As the opening day of Kwanzaa, the event sets the tone for the seven-day celebration, emphasizing the collective strength of Black families and community.

📚 Educational & Fun – In addition to being playful, the activities often highlight African and African American history, cultural storytelling, and values-based learning.

🏛️ Hosted in a Beloved Cultural Space – The West Las Vegas Library, a historic hub for Black cultural events in the city, provides a welcoming and accessible venue.

The Umoja Family Game Day is more than a holiday event—it’s a strategic cultural intervention designed to nurture intergenerational joy, restore collective traditions, and support the ongoing healing and empowerment of the Las Vegas Black community.

Diaspora Dialogues Family Book & Game Club

It’s a six-month, family-friendly series that meets twice a month at West Las Vegas Library to blend dynamic Black literature with interactive tabletop games, themed films, and hands-on STEAM or service projects. On the first Thursday we host a short “Film + Action Lab,” and on the third Saturday we dive into book discussion, cultural games, mocktails, and light snacks. Families read together, play together, and even have the option to co-author a compilation book that we’ll petition to add to the Library District’s collection—turning pages into community impact.

Saving Our Sons

Saving Our Sons is a youth-centered initiative rooted in collective responsibility and cultural restoration. In partnership with 501c3 W.A.T.C.H. NFP (What About The Children Here), Ujima Community Services is creating intentional, healing-based spaces for Black boys and boys of color to explore identity, intelligence, and innovation.

Through culturally grounded, STEM-forward programs like the T-C-T Club (Think–Compete–Triumph), we empower boys ages 7–12 with critical life skills, emotional literacy, and strategic thinking using Trading Card Games like Disney Lorcana and Pokémon. Our goal is to disrupt cycles of mislabeling, disconnection, and educational neglect by nurturing curiosity, communication, and confidence—one community, one child, one card at a time.

Kuumba Club

The Kuumba Club is a hands-on arts and crafts initiative inspired by the Kwanzaa principle of Kuumba—creativity. Designed for children ages 4–12 and their families, the club blends joyful expression with cultural grounding and collective healing. Rooted in both Kuumba and Ujima (collective work and responsibility), this intergenerational experience builds confidence, connection, and community through STEAM-aligned activities that uplift and inspire. Every session affirms our children’s brilliance, strengthens family bonds, and reminds us that creativity is a vital tool for transformation.
