VFW Unmet Needs Program
Provides financial assistance grants of up to $1,500 to active-duty service members, veterans, and their families facing unexpected financial hardship related to military service. Grants cover basic life needs such as rent, mortgage, utilities, vehicle repairs, and medical bills. No repayment required.
Nevada Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (NV ESGR)
Focuses on gaining and maintaining employer support for the Guard and Reserve. Educates service members and employers about USERRA (Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act). Offers Ombudsman program for mediation and partners with Hero 2 Hired (H2H) for employment assistance.
Work For Warriors - Nevada
Free, federally-funded employment program open to all National Guard members, Reservists, Veterans, and their immediate families. Provides assistance with resume development, job searching, interview techniques, and career assessments. Offices in Las Vegas metro area including Las Vegas Readiness Center.
Nevada National Guard Military & Family Readiness
Assists Nevada Guard Members, their families, and the community in coping with the demands of military life. Provides services to Active Duty, National Guard, Air Guard, Reserve, and Veterans, including financial literacy, community resource referrals, and crisis intervention. Support services at Las Vegas Readiness Center.
Veterans Transition Resource Center (VTRC South)
Reaches out to military veterans, Guard & Reserves, and their families to provide needed services and connect them with community partners and local government agencies. Assists with transition to civilian life and provides comprehensive resource navigation.
Military & Family Readiness Center (Nellis AFB)
Supports all branches and their families, including the Reserve component. Offers services like employment assistance, financial readiness, and transition assistance to civilian life. Located on Nellis Air Force Base serving the Las Vegas area military community.
U.S. Office of Personnel Management
Federal employment opportunities and resources for veterans. Information on federal hiring processes, veterans' preference, and benefits for those seeking federal government positions. USAJOBS portal for federal job applications and career guidance.
Government Accountability Office
Independent, nonpartisan agency that works for Congress. Provides reports and testimony on federal programs including veterans' benefits, healthcare, and services. Helps veterans understand government programs and accountability measures.
Military OneSource
Department of Defense program providing 24/7 support to military members and their families. Offers confidential help with parenting, relationships, deployment, education, career, financial counseling, and more. Free non-medical counseling and resources available.
988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
24/7 crisis support for anyone experiencing mental health-related distress. Veterans can press 1 after dialing 988 to reach the Veterans Crisis Line. Free, confidential support available by phone, text, or chat from trained counselors who understand military culture.
American Red Cross
Emergency assistance for military families including emergency communications, financial assistance, disaster relief, and support services. Helps connect service members with family during emergencies. Available in military and veteran healthcare facilities worldwide.
United Way
Find your local United Way for assistance with housing, utilities, food, healthcare, and other essential services. Connects veterans and their families to community resources and support programs. Dial 2-1-1 for free, confidential information and referral services.
